We share with you FEMNET’s May 2015 E-bulletin and begin with words from a song by the group ‘Sweet Honey in The Rock’ as shared by one of our members; Susan Nkomo, in paying tribute to Matrine Chuulu (Zambia) our member who passed last month. As we reflect on these powerful words, we invite you to join us in paying tribute to the great women who are no longer with us, including Ruth Mompati (South Africa), Joan Kagezi (Uganda), Shaimaa al Sabbagh (Egypt), Intisar Al-Hasairi (Libya) and others whom we may not know of but are women human rights defenders.

We applaud the government of Mauritius for designating Ameenah Gurib-Fakim as their new president and as we follow closely her inauguration expected on 5th June, we do wish her success in her presidential duties.

Be sure to click, read and share with others the Policy Recommendations that emerged from the 3-days African feminists Strategy Meeting on Financing for Development (FfD) and the Post-2015 Development Agenda and follow the conversations on Twitter: #FfD3, #Post2015, #TheAfricaWeWant
