Third Regional Conference on African Women in Political Leadership: Report

Since 2009, FEMNET has convened an annual Regional Conference for African Women in Political Leadership to enhance networking and the quality of women’s leadership. The first Conference was held in Togo in 2009 while the second Conference was held in Zambia in June 2010.
This report includes the proceeds from the third Conference held in Nairobi at the end of August 2011, convened 65 participants from across 15 countries (Kenya, Zambia, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan, Egypt, Cameroon, Uganda, Zimbabwe, DRC, Rwanda, United Republic of Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Tunisia) due to hold or which have held general elections in the course of 2010 – 2012. The theme of this conference was:  Enhancing Leadership Capacity: Influence, Resources and Networks.
