Memory Kachambwa

Executive Director
Memory is an intersectional feminist, a women’s rights activist with over 18 years of experience working on issues of gender and development, women’s empowerment and human rights at national, regional (Africa) and international levels.

As a dynamic pan-African feminist, thought-leader and strategist, Memory is passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and girls using diverse approaches grounded in social justice, feminism and gender equality analysis and practice. She holds a Masters of Philosophy in Management, Integrated Water Resources with a focus on women in leadership and is currently pursuing a second Masters degree in Peace, Human Rights, Gender and Development. Memory joined FEMNET in April 2016 as Head of Programmes, leading and strategically coordinating the programmatic conceptualization, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of FEMNET’s advocacy, communication and capacity building approaches. Prior to joining FEMNET, Memory worked a Gender and Economic Empowerment specialist at International Youth Foundation. She also served as the Executive Director of The Women’s Trust in Zimbabwe, following an accomplished 8 years in the UN in various capacities at UN Women, UNIFEM and UNFPA at both regional and national level. Martin Odera

 Finance Manager
Martin is a holder of a Bachelors Degree in Economics and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has been with FEMNET since 2004, coordinating the financial and accounting functions of the Network.

His duties include coordinating development of strategic budgets, financial reports and accounting for internal and external uses, coordinating audit processes, procurement activities (as the procurement focal person), setting up and maintaining the financial, administrative policies and procedures and strategies (including designing internal control system and subsequent management), monitoring and evaluating organization’s incomes and expenditures against approved budgets and reporting on the variances (variance analysis); Conducting risk assessments (risk analysis, monitoring and mitigation) including setting up risk registers). He describes himself as modern Keynesian Economist. Martin is a great farmer and avid reader of macroeconomic issues. Crystal

Crystal Simeoni

Head of Advocacy
Crystal is a holder of an MA in African studies and rural economic development. Her career has centered around fighting inequalities at a village level all the way to regional and global spaces and platforms using a wide range of approaches and skills which she now brings to the women’s movement.

Gender and macroeconomic issues and Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) keep her up at night. She has a passion for intersectional feminism and can be found discovering new hidden spots to do interesting things across Kenya in her spare time. Programme Associate, Men to Men Regional Programme
Ken has been with FEMNET since 2004 and his main role is to coordinate the scaling-up of the Men to Men programme to cover Uganda, Malawi, Mali, Tanzania, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Since 2013, he has been working with religious and cultural leaders in Tharaka-nithi and Homabay counties in Kenya to enhance capacities and champion the ending of socio-cultural practices deeply-rooted in their communities such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and wife inheritance as a strategy to promote sexual and reproductive rights for women and girls. Information Manager
Rachel is passionate to contribute and shape the gender equality and women’s rights discourse in Africa. Her extensive experience in creating and managing diverse knowledge and information platforms & products spans over 15 years.

At FEMNET, she manages the production, repackaging and dissemination of online and offline platforms and products (website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube). Rachel is a holder of Masters in Library & Information Science. She is a great team leader with strong organizing and interpersonal skills and project management.
