PARIS, HERE WE COME!

The Generation Equality Forum in Paris will be held from 30th June to 2nd July 2021. The forum is structured around six Action Coalitions – innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships involving governments, international organizations, civil society, and youth-led organizations, as well as private sector companies and philanthropic foundations. The Forum will launch a series of concrete, specific and ambitious commitments to accelerate progress towards gender equality in the next five years.

The Forum will take stock of the progress and drive to accelerate progress towards gender equality as addressed in the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the historic Fourth World Conference on Women

The Generation Equality Forum was launched within the frame of the Beijing +25 review process which took place from March 2019 to September 2020

2020 marked the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most comprehensive global agenda to achieve the empowerment of women and girls in all aspects of life, as well as the achievement of gender equality. Twenty-five years after its adoption, public rhetoric on gender equality has not been matched by action and implementation. While there has been important progress, real change has been slow and, so far, no country has achieved gender equality. Today, the world faces an unprecedented set of challenges that threaten the advancement of girls and women’s rights, including the rising gender inequality caused by COVID-19.
The Generation Equality Forum aims to bring together all stakeholders committed to gender equality in order to review progress and make concrete, specific and ambitious commitments to accelerate progress towards gender equality in the next five years. The Draft Global Acceleration Plan was launched in GEF Mexico.

Where and When will it take place?
The Generation Equality Forum will take place in Paris, France in from 30th June -2nd July 2021. The Forum will launch a series of concrete, specific and ambitious commitments to accelerate progress towards gender equality in the next five years. It will be virtual and will only be accessible through the digital platform. Register here by 27th June 2021 by 23:59 (GMT +2).

How do I register?
Applications to register are online. The registration link is available here. The deadline is 27th June 23:59 (GMT+2). From June 28, you will receive an email from the General Secretariat of the Generation Equality Forum – Paris 2021 to create your personal password. The creation of your password will confirm your participation in our virtual event. From June 29 you will be able to log in to familiarize yourself with the tools present in our platform and to personalize your calendar. Remember to check your email/spam folder.

How do we make commitments?
Organizations can make commitments before the forum through this link. The deadline for submitting the commitments is 18th June 2021 COB EST.
